Karaoglanoglu Northern Cyprus

The settlement of Karaoglanoglu, located 5 kilometers from the city, was once a small, sleepy village. Today, Karaoglanoglu has developed into a sought-after suburb of Kyrenia. After the events of 1974, Ayyorgi was renamed in honor of Colonel Karaoglanoglu, who was one of the first Turkish soldiers to land on the coast of Northern Cyprus.

Karaoglanoglu is known for its lemon and olive groves. Due to the region’s growing popularity among locals and tourists, numerous 5-star hotels and restaurants have been built along the coast in recent years. In the area there is also a small church called St. Fanurius, which is right by the sea. According to legend, the church was built on the exact spot where Saint Fanourius died after falling on a steep rock.

The settlement is also a popular place for water sports such as sailing, diving and fishing. There are also a variety of shops and supermarkets in the area that cater to the needs of residents and tourists.
